2021 was an interesting year for me! I moved back to Kenya in late December of 2020, so now been here for a year. I am still a globe trotter at heart so watch this space. Here are a few lessons I learned and updates for the new year.
- I started studying in a Bible school, online. You know you’ve had a pandemic when you decide to go to Bible school. :’) On a serious note, after my miraculous healing of 2020, I decided to join Bible school to learn more about the power in my faith in Christ. I was never taught that there was real power in the faith, and so far it’s changed my life.
- I started working on a music project that’s set to come out in February, in a string of projects.
- We got vaccinated! I needed to for the film, in order to fly out, but otherwise was anxiously awaiting the vaccine’s arrival for my mother and sister.
- I started working out in February last year, and have since maintained a 3* a week habit of doing it. Kevin Feige is looking for me.
- I made lots of new friends last year, and also lost a few friends. That was hard. But I’m grateful for the new ones. April was a hard painful month, starting January, peaking in April, and started to finally improve in August.
- Through God, I overcame chronic pain in my knees and feet. Tension Myoneural Syndrome, Dr. Sarno, Mindbody Prescription, welcome to google it. I was in so much pain, constantly worsened by activity. Overcame that.
- I started posting funny reels on Instagram, of funny scenarios I’m constantly thinking about. Follow Grace Wacuka @iamwacuka on Instagram. I find myself so funny.
- Auditioning in Kenya- was fully in the industry 8 years ago, then was on and off given studying and all, so it’s nice to see familiar faces and thankful to contribute to the industry again along with my long-term plans of doing so.
- My hair continues to grow like the blessings from the ancestors it is from
- I started working as a youtube presenter for a youtube channel. That has been fun. They’re called Shortform, it’s been fun, part time, and complements my work as an actor so grateful.
- We got vaccinated! I needed to for the film, in order to fly out, but otherwise was anxiously awaiting the vaccine’s arrival for my mother and sister.
- I started working out in February last year, and have since maintained a 3* a week habit of doing it. Kevin Feige is looking for me.
- Christmas and New Year were a blast.
And finally… I feel more grounded and thankful to God for that.
Biggest lessons
- God is a very reliable friend. He is currently getting 100% of my investment. Studying the Word of God is life-changing. Thanks to Charis Bible college who makes it affordable. Discovered that the only reason to not be experiencing victory in every area of life is a lack of knowledge. Things started looking up the more I knew. Grateful to Charis.
- It’s possible to make new friends in the middle of a pandemic.
- Choosing to not drink for a year was actually great. Renewed it for another year.
2022 plans
- I am sending a lot of music your way. My second go around after I had a first (traumatic) try 8 years ago and then on and off. Me trying to pay for it all out of pocket has been challenging, but believing God that we’ll get the 5 music videos done and the album. Working with a really great team- Sofresh, Mike Mutenyo, and accidentally met King Kaka who I also might be working with on something soon. We’ll see!
- I want to produce a short film.
- I am excited to work on acting work as it comes up.
That’s it for me! Another update in a month, and thanks for reading. Subscribe to the newsletter with your email to not miss an update! Until next time.
