2021 lessons and wins, 2022 plans

2021 was an interesting year for me! I moved back to Kenya in late December of 2020, so now been here for a year. I am still a globe trotter at heart so watch this space. Here are a few lessons I learned and updates for the new year.

  • I started studying in a Bible school, online. You know you’ve had a pandemic when you decide to go to Bible school. :’) On a serious note, after my miraculous healing of 2020, I decided to join Bible school to learn more about the power in my faith in Christ. I was never taught that there was real power in the faith, and so far it’s changed my life.
Charis Campus in Colorado. First-year can be done online, and schools all over the world.

  • I planted a tree on my birthday! And my first! Can’t believe it took me this long but the city girl I am has been aching to do it.
  • Director of Photography, Moses, Grace Wacuka and the Director Phillipe Bresson

  • I got cast in a lead role in a movie! Prior to that had been offered a lead role in another movie, but it wasn’t a good fit for me. This movie was shot in Zanzibar, Nairobi (Kenya), and Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania), which was great because I’d been visualizing that my next role would involve me flying out. I got to work with incredible talent, and can’t wait for you to see it, I think around February.
  •

    • I started working on a music project that’s set to come out in February, in a string of projects.
Last year's project. I AM Wacuka by Grace Wacuka.

    • We got vaccinated! I needed to for the film, in order to fly out, but otherwise was anxiously awaiting the vaccine’s arrival for my mother and sister.

    • I started working out in February last year, and have since maintained a 3* a week habit of doing it. Kevin Feige is looking for me.

    • I made lots of new friends last year, and also lost a few friends. That was hard. But I’m grateful for the new ones. April was a hard painful month, starting January, peaking in April, and started to finally improve in August.

    • The film I last released, A New Christmas, which is available on Amazon and Showmax won an award at the 22nd annual Maui festival in Hawaii. I love Hawaii!

    • Through God, I overcame chronic pain in my knees and feet. Tension Myoneural Syndrome, Dr. Sarno, Mindbody Prescription, welcome to google it. I was in so much pain, constantly worsened by activity. Overcame that.

    Grace Wacuka Real Hair

    • I started posting funny reels on Instagram, of funny scenarios I’m constantly thinking about. Follow Grace Wacuka @iamwacuka on Instagram. I find myself so funny.
    • Auditioning in Kenya- was fully in the industry 8 years ago, then was on and off given studying and all, so it’s nice to see familiar faces and thankful to contribute to the industry again along with my long-term plans of doing so.
    • My hair continues to grow like the blessings from the ancestors it is from
    • I started working as a youtube presenter for a youtube channel. That has been fun. They’re called Shortform, it’s been fun, part time, and complements my work as an actor so grateful.

    My baby cousins.

    • Christmas and New Year were a blast.

And finally… I feel more grounded and thankful to God for that.

    Biggest lessons

    • God is a very reliable friend. He is currently getting 100% of my investment. Studying the Word of God is life-changing. Thanks to Charis Bible college who makes it affordable. Discovered that the only reason to not be experiencing victory in every area of life is a lack of knowledge. Things started looking up the more I knew. Grateful to Charis.

    • It’s possible to make new friends in the middle of a pandemic.

    • Choosing to not drink for a year was actually great. Renewed it for another year.

  • Having a morning routine is life-changing. The miracle morning grounds me.
  • God heals. Just don’t give up and fight to manifest the healing Jesus died for.
  • Sisters and brothers in the faith are like breath in my lungs.
  • The Holy Spirit can guide you to be on Facebook at 10pm, with no agenda, which I never do, only to find the poster casting for a lead in a movie.1000 people submitted, 100 people shortlisted, and I got it, finally. Really tuning into claiming Genesis 12:2 and knowing that God’s plans always succeed, I am no longer worrying as much as I used to.
  • Also I have changed my definition of success so might not be what you are thinking.
  • I’m in the eternity long game.

    2022 plans

    • I am sending a lot of music your way. My second go around after I had a first (traumatic) try 8 years ago and then on and off. Me trying to pay for it all out of pocket has been challenging, but believing God that we’ll get the 5 music videos done and the album. Working with a really great team- Sofresh, Mike Mutenyo, and accidentally met King Kaka who I also might be working with on something soon. We’ll see!
    • I want to produce a short film.
    • I am excited to work on acting work as it comes up.

  • I am still praying on my Master in Acting.
  • Working on finishing BIble school.
  • The Word of God is THE STUFF.

  • Picked up my guitar again, and singing. Studying on www.justinguitar.com and doing a course by Eric Arcaneux. Wanna start training with Filah Tuju.
  • I will be auditioning of course. Expecting wonderful things this year.
  • Other things not for the public read. 🙂
  • That’s it for me! Another update in a month, and thanks for reading. Subscribe to the newsletter with your email to not miss an update! Until next time.
